  • Fixed Bed reactors designed and manufactured by Pilon Engineering have high conversion rate per catalyst weight compared to other catalytic reactors.
  • Also known as FBR, these are mainly tubular reactors with unidirectional, bi-directional or multi-directional flow   filled with catalyst pellets with reactants flowing through the bed and being converted into products.
  • At Pilon, we provide multiple catalyst configurations including: one large bed, several horizontal beds, several parallel packed tubes, and multiple beds in their own shells.
  • Various configurations may be adapted depending on the need to maintain temperature control within the system.
  • You may have pellets of various shapes and sizes i.e. spherical, cylindrical, or randomly shaped pellets. They range from 0.25 cm to 2.0 cm in diameter. Pilon helps accommodate them all.

  • Working pressures as high as 500 barg and temperatures up to1200 Deg C.

Packed Bed Reactor Systems


  • Packed bed Reactor made at Pilon Engineering is a hollow tube, pipe, or other vessel that is filled with a packing material suitable for that particular application or service.
  • The packing can be randomly filled with small objects like Ranching rings or else it can be a specifically designed structured packing. We at Pilon help you achieve your packing goals.
  • Our Packed beds may also contain catalyst particles or adsorbents such as zeolite pellets, granular activated carbon, etc.
  • The purpose of a packed bed is typically to improve contact between two phases in a chemical or similar process.
  • Pilon Engineering Packed beds can be used in a chemical reactor, a distillation process, or a scrubber, but packed beds have also been used to store heat in chemical plants.
  • Our PBRs have found applications in fine chemicals, oil and gas, petrochemical refineries, pharmaceutical, pesticides and in research centres.

Trickle Bed Reactor Systems



  • Mostly used for Hydrodesulphurization, Pilon holds good understanding in the Trickle bed reactors which are solid-liquid-gas contacting reactors wherein a liquid stream flows downward over a bed of catalyst with pressure difference serving as the driving force
  • The fluid flows over catalyst particles and forms fine films, rivulets or droplets. The gas stream can either flow concurrent with the liquid or counter current to it through the bed.
  • Trickle bed reactors are primarily operated in continuous mode but are sometimes used in semi-batch processes.
  • Designed for lower catalyst attrition
  • Easy to use and operate at elevated pressures and temperatures.

Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors Systems


  • Pilon Engineering designs and manufactures Continuous stirred-tank reactors (CSTRs) in-house, these are open systems, where material is free to enter or exit the system, that operate on a steady-state basis, where the conditions in the reactor don’t change with time. Reactants are continuously introduced into the reactor, while products are continuously removed.
  • Volume ranges from 25mL to 2000 Ltrs
  • MOC available Glass, Stainless steel, Inconel, Hastalloy, Incolloy (800, 800H and 800HT, Monel, Titanium etc.)
  • Designed for proper mixing of the contents
  • Easy to use and operate at elevated pressures and temperatures.

Salient Features of Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors Systems:

  • Contents are very well mixed, so the contents have relatively uniform properties such as temperature, density, etc. throughout
  • Working pressures as high as 300 barg and temperatures up to 500 Deg C.
  • Multiple CSTRs can be designed and manufactured when two immiscible liquids or viscous liquids are present and require a high agitation rate
